What is a Cambelt?

The cambelt links together the pistons with the engine valves making sure that they open at the right time to let in fuel and exhaust gasses. If these do not keep properly synchronised, then the engine in your vehicle will either not run properly, or not at all. If a cambelt snaps it can cause major engine failure.

The cambelt is one of the hardest working parts of your vehicle's engine and it is inevitable it will wear over time. Modern vehicles should have their cambelt changed about every five years - older cars more often.
